Welcome to Twisted E Ranch, home of the Kelley-Eavou family and our registered Icelandic Horses.  We are located in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula south of Sault Ste. Marie.  We have a small breeding program, our goal being to produce beautiful, easy gaiting family horses.

Formally known as Ice Horse Ranch, we merged into Twisted E Ranch in 2008.  Beginning in 2008 our foals will be registered under the "Twisted E" farm name. 

Icelandics are small, hardy horses that CAN hold most adults comfortably.  They typically have 4 or 5 gaits, thier fourth gait being tölt and the fifth gait being flying pace.  Not all Icelandics have the fifth gait.  The tölt is similar to the rack or running walk, so smooth you feel like you are just gliding along.  Icelandics are normally around 13 to 14 hands tall, but can carry up to one third of their weight.  They come in every color except appaloosa patterns, most commonly being chestnut and black.  Some of the more exciting colors are silver dapples, pintos, duns, cream colors and roans.  They are generally long lived easy keepers, good pasture and fresh water is all that is needed for many Icelandics.  Ours live outside year round, with free access to large run in sheds.  They grow an enormous winter coat and tolerate our frigid climate (up to -30F at times!) in Michigan perfectly.  Our horses have wonderful personalities, and have been very easy to work with and train.  Our entire family enjoys them.
